More Awards Roll in for AWP—This Time From Telly Awards
The awards are continuing to roll in for A Willing Participant, Inc. this spring season.
AWP has received a Silver Telly Award at the competition's 41st annual installment for our production of the short-form documentary "2019 Ryan Award Winner Joán Álvarez."
Álvarez was presented with the prestigious Ryan Award by AWP's Chicago-based educational nonprofit client for his transformational work as principal at IDEA McAllen College Prep in McAllen, Texas.
Under Álvarez's leadership during the 2017-2018 school year, 73 percent of IDEA McAllen students met or exceeded expectations for reading and math in state testing. That's up from 52 percent of students during the 2014-2015 school year at IDEA McAllen.
The school, located near the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas, predominantly serves low-income and minority students.

AWP also took home a Bronze Telly Award for our production of "2019 Ryan Award Winner Lindsey Robinson." Robinson received the Ryan Award for her outstanding leadership as principal of Chicago International Charter School Avalon in the Avalon Park neighborhood on Chicago's South Side.
With Robinson serving as principal, CICS Avalon was named the second-best performing K-8 school in Illinois out of all K-8 schools that serve a high concentration of African-American and low-income students.
